About Manali
The magical allure and mystique of Manali, a high rising hill station in the Kullu valley of Himachal Pradesh has something for everyone. Hadimba Devi Temple
One of the iconic Manali attractions, Hadimba Temple is an ancient wood and stone temple belonging to the Dhungri Van Vihar, a lush green Deodar and Pine forest. Dedicated to Hadimba, a character from Mahabharata and wife of Bhima, this temple is one of the specimens in the Indian temple architecture.
Vashist Springs
Tourists can enjoy the warm water dip in the hot springs at Vashisht. Tucked in the folds of snowy peak rocks, these springs are known for their medicinal value and can cure different kinds of ailments with its healing properties.
Manali Wildlife Sanctuary
Located just 3 km from the hill station, this wildlife sanctuary offers an edge to Manali with its exotic Alpine pastures and fauna inclusive of leopards, snow leopards, musk deer, monal, brown bear and wild goats – ibex in this rich sanctuary.
Manu Temple
Manu Temple symbolizes the legends and historical associations of Manali. It is often believed that Manu, the son of Brahma safeguarded the vegetation and animals to repopulate the earth after the Great Deluge in Manali. Hence the name Manali came into existence. This is the only temple of Manu in India, who is the progenitor of the human race on earth.
Tibetan Monasteries
There are many Buddhist monasteries in Manali where tourists can relax, meditate and even acquire Himachali carpets and other Tibetan handicrafts.
By Air – Tourists need to board the flight to Bhuntar airport to reach Manali.
By Train – Chandigarh and Pathankot are two railway station which give tourists full time access to Manali.
By Road - One can hop on to a Luxury Bus from Delhi to reach Manali overnight. OR can even avail a rented car to drive the way to this hilly destination.
Climate of Manali – The climate in Manali is mostly cold during winters and pleasant during summers.
Kullu
An excursion to Kullu brings tourists close to valley of apple orchards which is famous more for its craft of shawl making. One can find numerous varieties of handcrafted shawls in this quiet valley which comes alive with the onset of the most prestigious festival, Kullu Dussehra. This is one of the largest and loudest Dussehra festival celebrations in India. This includes a devotional parade where over 200 deity idols are paraded into the town from surrounding temples, led by a huge chariot holding the statue of Lord Raghunath from the Raghunath Temple in Sultanpur. The fiesta continues into the parade ground where acrobats, musicians and other local performers bring alive the spirit of Kullu.
Solang Valley
Just 13 km ahead of Manali is Solang Valley, famed for its ski slopes in the green meadows of Himachal Pradesh. Here tourists can enjoy lucrative adventure sports of skiing, paragliding, walking and zorbing.
Manikaran
Manikaran, near Manali is a Hindu and Sikh spiritual center famous for a Gurudwara and Temples in the tucks and folds of Parvati valley. It is believed that Manu established life again after the great flood in Manikaran. Another floated legend states that Lord Shiva and Parvati stayed in this divine location. According to Sikh tradition, Manikaran Sahib, the Gurudwara is believed to be the site visited by the First Guru, Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The natural geothermal springs also form an added attraction of the visit to Manikaran. Tourists often feel amazed by the way how potatoes are boiled and chapattis are baked in these hot springs.
Rohtang Pass
Situated 50 km away from Manali, Rohtang Pass is the entry point to Lahaul and Spiti valley. Besides this, the high mountain pass of the Pir Panjal range also connects Ladakh in Jammu and Kashmir, the ultimate adventurers retreat.
Keylong
A little deep venturing into Keylong will bring tourists to the headquarters of Lahaul and Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh. The Buddhist influences in this region with breathtaking natural bliss makes this destination a pristine paradise.
