About Ooty

Set among the verdant Nilgiris, Ooty offers serene succor for the soul. Fondly addressed as the Queen of misty hill stations and a capital of Nilgiris, this is one of the iconic tourist destinations in India. This is evident from the fact that visiting Ooty is never out of trend. Since British colonial times, this retreat attracted tourists throughout the year. Ooty Lake
Ooty Trip This is artificial lake created in 1824 by John Sullivan, the first collector of Ooty. Spread out on an area of 65 acres, this is one of the star attractions of this hill station's tour. The Boat house along side the lake allows tourists to enjoy paddle boating and motorized boating in this mesmerizing lake setting.
Ooty's Gardens
Ooty is known for its beautifully maintained gardens. First amongst them is the 55 acre Ooty Botanical Gardens. Established in 1848, these beautifully maintained gardens include some enormous mature trees as well as native shrubs and lush garden beds. The rare species of trees such as cork tree, paper bark tree can be found blooming in this botanical garden. The rare attraction of this garden is the fossilized tree trunk believed to be around 20 million years old. Tourists during summer holidays experience the floral extravaganza during Annual Flower Show.

The second garden in the series is the Centenary Rose Park known for its terraced lawns and colourful flowerbeds, especially roses. The garden boasts of having the largest collection of roses in the country with over 2,500 varieties. It was set up in 1995 to commemorate 100th flower show of the Botanical Garden.

Thread Garden is the third famous garden tagged as first in the world exhibiting 150 species of flowers and plants from around the world recreated using hand wound thread technique. This technique was fine-tuned by Anthony Joseph, Keralan artist who guided 50 crafts people for 12 years to create this artistic garden.

Doddabetta Peak
The big mountain or Doddabetta is the highest peak in the Nilgiris at an elevation of 2637 meters. Located 9 km from Ooty, this peak can be visited for the fabulous views of the valley at the junction of Eastern and Western Ghats.

Ooty Golf Course
Ooty TripGolf Course is another attraction of Ooty hill station tour. Set at an altitude of 7200 feet, this 18 hole course spread over 193.5 acres area provides a great golfing experience.

Waterfalls of Ooty
There are two waterfalls in Ooty. Kalhatti Waterfalls are located on the Ooty Mysore road, offering an excellent view of cascading waterfalls. Pykara Falls is another waterfall on the Ooty Bangalore road. The waterfalls offer great time for photography.

Kodaikanal
Colloquially known as the gift of the forest, Kodaikanal serves as a refuge for the tourists who want to experience the contrasting cool climate during holidays. The hill station is known for several scenic attractions including a lake, Bryant park, Bear Shola Falls, Silver Cascade, etc.

Bandipur National Park
Located on the Mysore Ooty road, Bandipur National Park is spread over 880 sq km area and is a part of Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve, which is also a reserve for famous sanctuaries like Nagarhole, Mudumalai and Wayanad. This park used to serve as the Mysore Maharajas private hunting resort. Presently, the wild retreat serves as a home to over 5000 Asiatic elephants, herds of gaurs (Indian bison), chitals (spotted deer), sambars, panthers, sloth bears and langurs.

Calicut
Calicut or Kozhikode in the North Kerala is the base region to explore the bountiful and beautiful nature of the God's own country. The city also serves as a base point to visit the pristine Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary.
